Oh hai there....

Well I certainly haven't been on here in a while, but I am going to try and remedy that starting today. Between working, school and just having a life, I know that I am not going to be able to do as much on here as I would like to, but I am going to try and make an effort and post something at least once a week. Well now that that is out of the way, let's get down to why I am writing this blog entry.

Skyward Sword is less than two months away and I am extremely excited, but even with all the excitement surrounding the next Zelda release there are still people who are dismissing Skyward Sword based on the idea that it's not modern enough for today's gamers and I hear the phrase "Zelda should be more like *insert game name here*". Now when I say modern, I don't mean a Zelda set in modern times, I am of course talking about how Zelda doesn't appeal to the tropy/accomplisment earning, "I don't care about a story" gamer, the fact of the matter is that Zelda is not, has not and will not ever be the game for that type of gamer and it should not be changed just to appeal to this demographic. Zelda games are about the story and getting so attached to the characters that you absolutely feel compelled to help and rescue them from whatever evil that may be plaguing them, not because you want to unlock a trophy. That sentimental attachment right there is the beauty of the Zelda franchise, you develop feelings and care for the characters involved in the story. I don't think any Modern Warfare gamers become attached to characters in their games and I am not bashing shooter games or any other game genre for that matter, I am just saying it's a different type of game and a different type of emotion that is attached to that type of game. I don't expect the next shooter to try and appeal to me because I am not it's demographic and the same should be said of Zelda, Zelda knows it's demographic and how to attract it.

The other argument that I hear is that Zelda has not evolved and is becoming stale. In my opinion, every Zelda game, with the exception of Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks, has evolved either in the form of graphics, game play, storyline or even perspective, each Zelda game has offered something different. Don't believe me, then let's go through the list.

The Legend of Zelda:
The original Zelda has no predecessors to compare to but back when it was released, it was an advance compared to other games. The ability to save and the idea of exploration was new to the gaming world at that time.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link:
There is no argument in this game's evolution, Zelda II is a complete 180 in terms of the original Zelda. Zelda II offered RPG elements as far as XP to upgrade weapons, life and magic and even offered spells. For anybody looking for your "RPG Zelda", take a retro trip back to this NES title.

Link to the Past:
Now we are going backwards in terms of the perspective of the game, LttP went back to the original perspective of top-down, but even with this step back, there is a step forward and that step is the story evolution. LttP offered a much more in depth and colorful story then the previous two Zeldas. This story helped better immerse the player into the plight that Hyrule was enduring and made the player feel as though he or she truly was the hero of Hyrule.

Link's Awakening:
Zelda became portable and while other hand held games of the time were proving to be short and sweet, LA was a long and intense game with a unique storyline that proved that Ganon was not the only enemy that our hero Link could face.

Ocarina of Time:
For me, Ocarina of Time is the game changer, not only for Zelda games, but for all video games. Oot would and will forever be the game that I compare every game that came after it to. Oot's story, graphics and game play were brought together in perfect harmony to produce a game that elicited emotion and immersed the player in the realm of the Hero of Time. It is not only the best Zelda game, but the best game period in my mind.

Majora's Mask:
Majora's Mask was the deep, dark Zelda game that fans had been begging for and was dismissed largely for two reasons: The clock and you fight as young Link(which if you are complaining about young Link, then you are missing the point of Zelda games COMPLETELY), but I digress, we are suppose to be talking about the evolutionary aspect of this game. The aspects of MM that I felt pushed the game in a new direction was the time element and the dark story behind this game.

First, the clock: A lot of people could not get past the issue of quests occurring on a "schedule" and that you had to prioritize your time or you would miss your opportunity and have to start over and try again. I felt accomplished when I beat MM because a lot of self proclaimed Zelda fans had not or were not able to beat it. The time element was another evolutionary step for Zelda games, but Zelda fans complained so much about it, that Nintendo has not truly utilized it in the same way again.

Second, the dark story: Majora's Mask was the deep, dark story that a lot of Zelda fans were asking for and it was passed up by a lot of them because of the fact you play the game as a child, but I won't delve into that. The game pushed the boundaries of what most people thought a Zelda game should be based on, Link fighting Ganon to save Hyrule. Other than Link's Awakening, no other Zelda game had utilized a non-Ganon storyline and even in Link's Awakening you could argue that there was a Ganon appearance at the end of LA.

Oracle of Seasons/Ages:
The Oracles offered for the first and only time a link between the two games to allow for one long story and an alternate ending if you completed both games.

The Wind Waker:
Now obviously the biggest change in this installment of the series is the graphics, Wind Waker decided to take a step back from realistic Zelda graphics and went with the cell-shaded graphics and really offered some of the most beautiful graphics that any Zelda game has had, but there were two more elements that I really want to point out in this evolutionary Zelda chain.

First is the fact that instead of using the set field-dungeon-field formula that all Zelda games had used up to this point, Wind Waker's story was vastly told outside of dungeons and in the Great Sea. Side quests and treasure hunting for Triforce piece all took place on the vast ocean of "Hyrule". Now I do agree that Nintendo might be guilty of spreading out destinations a little too far away from each other in an attempt to make the game longer, but Nintendo did offer it's first Zelda game that for the most part took place outside of Temple/Dungeon walls.

The second evolution that Wind Waker brought us is something I think gets over looked a lot when it comes to this game, the controls. In my opinion, Wind Waker offers the best controls of any Zelda game. Team Zelda made the controls tighter and more intuitive by making slight changes, better Z-targeting, the action button during sword fights and just better handling all around. I wish the tight, precise controls of Wind Waker were the standard of which each future Zelda was measured from now on.

Four Swords/Four Swords Adventure:
Well the obvious evolution of Four Swords is the addition of multi-player Zelda. The only thing I can really say about Nintendo not taking an obvious and necessary evolutionary step is with the recent re-release of Four Swords for the Anniversary of Zelda, that re-release should of had online multi-player programmed into it.

Minish Cap:
Minish Cap offered proof that Zelda can have a reoccurring main antagonist that is not Ganon and still be incredibly fun and have a wonderful story. This evolution of main antagonists is crucial because although Ganon will always be Link's nemesis, battling him in every game can be a bit...redundant. The introduction and success of a different main antagonist in Minish Cap and the Four Swords series helped open the door for other Zelda games to take a different path and explore other story lines.

Twilight Princess:
Twilight Princess is really one of the only Zelda games that I feel didn't take any leaps or bounds to evolve the Zelda formula and I don't really consider tacking on "Motion Controls" to a GameCube game at the last minute to make it a Wii launch game an evolutionary step. I love Twilight Princess and feel it is a wonderful, fun game with a beautiful story, but it didn't really change anything in the Zelda formula.....with the exception of the DOUBLE Clawshot, which was f*cking awesome!!!

Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks:
I am including this two games together because they are basically the same game if you really think about it. The obvious evolutionary step that PH and ST took are in the controls, the use of the stylus. I was not completely on the band wagon when I heard about the use of the stylus in the controls of the new DS games, but once I got use to them, I realized how genius and intuitive they were. The use of the stylus allowed players to use the controls in ways that were never possible in other hand held Zeldas. Precision and accuracy are amazing once you get the hang of it and I hope that they continue to utilize the stylus control in future Zelda hand held games.

Anybody who wants to argue that these little changes do not equal the evolution of Zelda, I give you this, the definition of Evolution: "a connotation of gradual improvement or directionality from a beginning to an end point. This contrasts with the more general development, which can indicate change in any direction, or revolution, which implies recurring, periodic change."

Now the biggest complaint about the Zelda series and how it has become stale, the story. Link is called forth to save Hyrule or any other land he is in, fights evil and saves the day, end of story. To the people who complain about this story line I pose this question, "why are you playing Zelda in the first place?" that story IS Zelda. I love the story of the Zelda games and while they maybe similar, they are not the same. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Legend of Zelda is the story of LINK and how a young man chooses to stand up against incredible odds just because it's the right thing and through that journey becomes the hero that we come to love and cheer for. Link is the hero and he will ALWAYS save and protect those in distress, if you are sick of this plot, then I suggest you find a new game to play...

The Prologue...

This is a little something that I have been working on during my down time from the internet. I was explaining my idea for a Zelda game to my friend, Jacqui and she encouraged me to go ahead and write it up. This is not going to be the whole story, I will explain my idea for my Zelda game in a later blog post, but this is the prologue that sets up the main story. I know it's not professionally written and is probably not that great of an idea, but this little story that I have been working on has helped me relieve some stress that has built up over the past few weeks and that in itself makes it worth doing. I don't quite have a title for the "game" worked out yet and even though I have read this over a LOT, there are probably quite a few grammar errors. Regardless I hope you find it mildly entertaining.

Defender of Hyrule out

Prologue- Past Sacrafices

The people of the Castle Town have long abandoned their homes, Hyrule is his now, Hyrule belongs to Ganondorf. The city burns with fire and with his hatred, all that is left is the Castle and soon that too will be his.
She knows he will be here soon, that is why she has sent her guards away…no more blood will be shed on her royal behalf. Her holy powers can only hold them off for so long, but it is long enough for her to set her plan into motion. The Princess of Light has entered her inner sanctum of the Castle just as the King of Evil has breached it. Zelda kneels before the Goddesses’ alter and begins to pray. She prays to Din for the strength to match up against her opponent, to Nayru for the wisdom to guide her steps, Farore to give her the courage to see her task through and above all, she prays that her people will be spared. Ganondorf is near, she can feel it, but she continues to pray as he walks into the sanctum. Their pieces of the Triforce resonate in reaction to each other and Zelda lifts her head from her prayers…
“Are you prepared to surrender what is rightfully mine?” Ganondorf spits out defiantly.
“Yours?” the Princess replies in a disgusted tone, “The Triforce belongs to the people of Hyrule…not to an undeserving wretch, like you.”
A smirk spreads across his face, “Wretch you say? If I am so undeserving, then why have the Goddesses allowed me to be the bearer of the Triforce of Power for all these years? Why have they not allowed me to die?”, questions Ganondorf
Zelda is angered by this question and turns to face her opponent “You stole the Triforce of Power all those years ago! It allows you to live because it has been tainted by your malice…” She answers defiantly.
Ganondorf chuckles at the fact that he is able anger the level headed ruler, “It shines so beautifully in its tainted light” he replies as he lifts up his right hand to show his piece of the Triforce glowing with an eerie darkness.
But his boasting is stopped short at the sight of the smirk on the Princess’ face
“A dark heart such as yours cannot utilize the Triforce’s true power…” says Zelda in an antagonizing tone. Ganondorf is angered at the challenge to his power and punches a pillar in the room to be testament to his true strength.
“I am the Triforce of Power’s master!” he shouts angrily, “Enough of this! Forfeit your life to me and I shall let your people live…” as he turns away with a smirk and coldly says, “for now.”
Her plan has worked; enraging Ganondorf as a distraction has given her enough time to summon her Bow and Light Arrows. As her enemy’s back is turned, Zelda takes aim at Ganondorf and readies her bow.
“I will not allow you to harm my people!” Zelda says to the evil King. As Ganondorf turns around to respond he is greeted by the sight of Zelda letting loose her Holy Arrow. Unable to avoid the arrow entirely, Ganondorf is struck in the shoulder, he screams in pain as the Holy Arrow pierces through his armor and then his flesh, he slumps to the ground, feeling the full effect of the arrows magic as he is unable to move.
Writhing in pain he looks up at the Princess who is noticeably weakened by the attack and smirks, “You may have the power to weaken me, Princess, but only the Hero chosen by the Master Sword can defeat me…” Ganondorf says mockingly as he chuckles through the pain.
Zelda looks at her enemy slumped on the floor and clutches a single, clear crystal hanging from a necklace she is wearing. The Light Arrows magic is wearing off, she is too weak to summon her weapon again, she must hurry…
“I do not know why the Hero has not shown himself” Zelda says to Ganondorf as she stumbles toward him, “and I know that I cannot defeat you…but there is something that I can do to protect my people from you until the Chosen Hero arises…”
Ganondorf is able to move slightly and shoots a dark energy ball at the Princess, but he is too late. Zelda manages to summon enough magic to teleport herself out of the room and she disappears in a shining light just as the energy ball is about to strike her.
The Light Arrows magic has worn off enough that Ganondorf is able to stand, he exits the Sanctum and grabs his nearest minion, “ The Princess has escaped, find her and bring her back!!” he orders as he throws the minion to the ground
Meanwhile Zelda has teleported to the Temple of Time, just a short distance outside of Hyrule Castle Town. As she stumbles toward the back of the Temple, a figure dressed in Sheikah garb appears from the shadows. “I thought I told you to keep away from here until I am done in case my plan backfires?” Zelda says to the shadowy figure.
Zelda stumbles a little and her guardian Shae runs to her side to help her walk. Zelda accepts the help of her friend and smiles warmly at her as they continue to walk towards the back of the Temple, towards the Door of Time.
As they walk up the small stairs that lead to the Door, Shae looks at the Princess with a pained look on her face, “ Are you sure about this?” she says.
Zelda holds the hand that is helping keep her steady a little tighter and looks at Shae with a determined look in her eyes and says “It is the only way to protect my people until the Hero is found…”
Zelda’s Triforce of Wisdom softly glows as they grow closer to the Door. Zelda stops and looks to Shae, “Do you have the crystals I asked you to find?” Shae reaches into her satchel and retrieves three crystals, one emerald green, another ruby red and the other sapphire blue. Zelda smiles, “and they have been blessed by your elders, right?” Shae nods in response to the Princess’ question. Zelda smiles with approval as she places her hand on the Door of Time. The Hylian Family Crest on the Door begins to glow in response to Zelda’s Triforce piece and the Door slowly begins to open. There before them stands the blade of legend, the Master Sword. As they walk into the chamber, Shae helps Zelda up the steps of the Pedestal of Time.
“You’ll need to be outside of this chamber before I am done with the prayer….or you will be trapped in here too”, Zelda says to her friend with a look of concern on her face.
Shae averts her gaze, as she is already holding back tears, “I know….” is all she replies.
Shae let’s go of Zelda once she is kneeled before the Master Sword and slowly walks toward the entrance of the Chamber. Once outside the Chamber, Shae turns around to see Zelda with her head bowed and her hands folded around the crystal as she begins pray, “ Oh great Goddesses of Hyrule, I offer myself as a sacrifice to contain this great evil. Use my powers, my body…” she pauses as a single tear begins to form in her eye “ and my soul to protect my people until the Chosen Hero arises to help me vanquish it!”
With the prayer complete, the crystal in Zelda’s hands starts to glow. Zelda releases the crystal from her grasp as it floats above her head and surrounds her with an ethereal light.
Suddenly Zelda screams out in pain, the crystal has begun to absorb her holy powers and her soul from her body. As the faint light is being ripped from Zelda’s body, her body starts to turn to stone. Zelda looks up with the tear falling from her eye at Shae and sees her friend crumpled on the floor with tears streaming from her eyes as their gazes meet. Zelda smiles faintly through her pain to easy Shae’s sorrow “Protect this place until he is found…” she grimaces from the pain “… until he can retrieve this sword…”
Just as the crystal has absorbed the last of her soul and she finishes her last words, Zelda’s body is turned into statue. The sole tear on Zelda’s cheek has crystallized and sparkles as it falls from her face and then shatters on the cold, marble floor. The shattered tear releases a very faint light from its remains; the light floats softly up towards the heavens and disappears. Suddenly a ray of light shoots upwards from the crystal containing Zelda’s soul and the Door of Time slams shut!
Shae gathers herself up off the floor and wipes away her tears; she must make sure Zelda’s sacrifice was not in vain. She runs outside of the Temple and looks off in the distance, towards the castle town. A brilliant light barrier has begun to form around the town. As it reaches the highest point of Hyrule Castle, the light dims and a crystalline barrier is formed. A slight smile forms across Shae’s face, Zelda’s prayer has worked! Ganondorf and his minions are contained to the Castle Town and the rest of the land of Hyrule is safe… for now.
Shae walks back into the Temple and walks back towards the Door of Time. She retrieves the three crystals from her satchel once again and places them on the Alter before the Door. Dropping to one knee, Shae chants in an incantation in an ancient tongue. As she is speaking the incantation the crystals begin to glow and hover above the Alter casting off a light that begins to disguise the Temple as a clearing in the woods. The crystals dim and Shae removes them from the Alter and places them in her satchel once again.
Shae walks down a path to a white horse that is grazing peacefully nearby; she rubs its head as it neighs with approval. As she mounts her horse, Shae looks back at the Alter in the middle of the clearing and makes a promise to herself… and to Zelda, “I will find him, Princess….and then we will restore Hyrule to its true glory. I swear this…”
The mounted steed rears up and gallops off with its rider into the night.

Gamer Girls.....

I have a love/hate relationship with the term "Gamer Girl", it's a double-edged sword that is on one side, helping female gamers carve a name for themselves in the gaming community and on the other, is creating a stereotype of who a "real gamer girl" is.

The biggest reason I dislike the "gamer girl" term is surprisingly because of gamer girls themselves. I don't have any hate towards TRUE gamer girls, the ones that not only love a video game but can also kick your ass in it and give you the detailed history behind it, but the girls who exploit their sexuality to become popular and use the term to try and pick up guys. To these "gamers", video games are just a means to end to have boys flirt with them and have no real knowledge or love for the game. This pisses me off because these "gamers" make life for us real gamer girls incredible difficult, true gamer girls have to fight twice as hard to earn respect of any other gamer even if they have real skill and can dish out a serious ass kicking. We do exist and I am sure that my fellow girl gamers have my back on this.

I guess all in all, I am just trying to say that not all girls who game are doing it for the attention and popularity, most of us just want to play the game, have fun and kick some ass. How about this, if I love gaming and you love gaming, how about we just leave our genders out of the equation and go by "gamers"? Deal?

Zelda 30 Day Challenge: Day 7

I am so far behind on this and it's not because I don't want to write this blog, it's just that real life obligations seem to get in the way of things that we enjoy to do. I am going to try and make a more conscious effort to write this little thing up and post it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm not getting full of myself thinking that I actually have a dedicated following, I just feel like this blog is something that will help keep me sane through the daily doldrums and annoyances of life's obligations. Well that's enough of that, on to the Zelda questions....

Your Favorite Link
I think that anybody who has read previous postings knows that Adult Link is my favorite Link. I have had the biggest crush on him ever since Ocarina of Time and to this day, he makes my heart skip a beat

What Legend of Zelda items do you own in real life?
I own two items from the Legend of Zelda, the Master Sword and Link's hat. I actually wear my Link hat when I play Zelda games to help immerse me into the land of Hyrule and I sometimes walk around the house with my Master Sword strapped to my back. Funny story about the Master Sword, it's so big that I can't take in out of the sheath when it's on my back. I also own all the official Nintendo games, including a factory sealed NES Legend of Zelda and I own 5 Zelda shirts. Anything Zelda related, I pretty much have to own it.

The easiest boss you've battled

There are too many easy bosses to choose, pretty much all of the first level bosses are easy. There two bosses that do come to mind though:
Aquamentus
Aquamentus is the first boss you face in Oracle of Seasons and really there is no trick to beating him like other Zelda bosses, just slash the hell out of his head and he's dead pretty quickly.

Giant ChuChu
The giant ChuChu is the first boss in Minish Cap and while this boss battle made me giggle because I was battling a "giant" ChuChu, the boss was pretty easy, but the first boss is always easy that way you can become accustomed to the controls of the game.

The hardest boss you have ever battled

There is only one boss that truly comes to mind when I think of hard Zelda boss battles and that boss is the Thunderbird from Adventure of Link! I have never been so angry while playing a Zelda game in all of my life as I was playing Adventure of Link! It is a freaking HARD game and the Thunderbird was the cherry on top of the rage fest sundae that was the second Zelda for me. Let me explain why this boss was so damn hard, first, you have to cast the spell Thunder to make it to where you can even damage the Thunderbird and in casting Thunder you use more than half of your magic, HALF OF YOUR DAMN MAGIC! After casting Thunder, you are left with two choices. Option A: cast jump so you can jump high enough to stab the Thunderbird's head(it's only weak point, by the way) and cast Reflect to help reduce the damage you take from the Thunderbird's fireballs, that are falling from every direction. Option B: save your magic and use the spell Life to refill your depleted life supply, the only problem with saving your magic for using the Life spell is that now you can't jump high enough to attack the head of the Thunderbird and you then have to wait for him to get low enough to attack. This boss made me so angry that I actually threatened my TV and scared my husband and dog while I was playing. Oh but what a glorious day it was when I finally defeated that bastard bird! All in all, it's the hardest boss I have battled in any Zelda game and I have played them all.

Zelda 30 Day Challenge: Day 6 - Favorite Item

I am an indecisive Defender of Hyrule and I can't just pick one item, so here are a few items from the Zelda series that are near and dear to my Hylian heart:

Hookshot/Clawshot
I love the Hookshot/Clawshoot, after the Master Sword, it's my favorite weapon in the series. I didn't think I could possibly love this weapon anymore until Twilight Princess came out and gave me, THE DOUBLE CLAWSHOT!!! I know some people were like, "Oh, they couldn't come up with something more creative then just having two clawshots?" but I can tell you that was not my reaction. My reaction was a bit more like, " HOLY SH*T!!!!! I get TWO clawshots!!!!!"...needless to say I was excited.

Bow and Arrows

I LOVE going around with the Bow and Arrows and sniping off enemies in the Zelda universe, I have since Ocarina of Time and to this day it is something that I really enjoy. One of my most favorite moments in any Zelda game is in Twilight Princess when you get to the Hidden Village and it is an old western town and I have to snipe off Moblins. It's fun, funny and a little cheesy, in a good way.

Boomerange (PH & ST)
I love the way the Boomerang is used in the DS games, I think it is inventive and was a unique way to utilize the touchscreen of the DS.

Iron Boots (TP)

Ok, honestly, who didn't almost die from the sheer awesomeness that was how the Iron Boots were utilized in Twilight Princess? I know I almost did! That thought never even crossed my mind and I took twice as long in the Goron mines due to the fact that I just loved walking around on the ceiling and hanging from magnets!

Is Nintendo heading down the same path as Sega?

Many people are speculating that Nintendo is heading down the same path as the Sega and will stop producing consoles and start to licenses their big name titles to other companies. Why are all these people suddenly saying that Nintendo is on the decline? Because the 3DS sells aren't what Nintendo was projecting. We all know that the 3DS hasn't sold as well as the DS family and the Wii right out of the gate but I will give you three reasons why I believe this has happened.

#1. Release date: Releasing a next-gen handheld console at the end of March wasn't the greatest of idea that Nintendo has had. A March release isn't going to attract a casual gamer as much as a holiday release would have and we all know that the casual gamer played a HUGE role in Nintendo's Wii/DS success. I would expect sells of the 3DS to increase significantly around Christmas.

#2. Lack of games: The 3DS is a great handheld, but to be perfectly honest, I haven't been playing it that much. When I first got the 3DS, all I got was Street Fighter IV 3D, I played Street Fighter for about a week and didn't really play with the 3DS again until Ocarina of Time 3D came out. Now don't get me wrong, I love the 3DS, I think it is a great addition to Nintendo's system lineup, but I just don't have any games to play on it. The lack of games really hurt Nintendo's appeal to their core gamer market and I think once we get a few Nintendo and GOOD third party titles, we will see sales increase.

#3. First generation: There are a lot of gamers out there who will not buy the first generation of a console and for good reason, every second generation of any console has been far superior to it's predecessor.

I think that it's a little too early to be saying that Nintendo is heading down the Sega path, but I do agree that Nintendo needs to step it up to keep their core fans interested because ultimately we are their bread and butter, the casual gamer is going to go to whichever console has the next great gimmick. Nintendo needs to improve on releasing more core games, DLC needs to be something that Nintendo further expands upon and online play with Nintendo needs to move past the Friend Code era. Nintendo is a video game Juggernaut and I don't think it will be going anywhere, any time soon.

Zelda 30 Day Challenge: Day 5 - Love Interest

Link! Link is my love interest in the Legend of Zelda series and he has been ever since I was a 13 year old girl playing Ocarina of Time for the first time. Link is handsome, noble, brave, selfless and kind and any female who is a true fan of the Zelda series would be lying if they said they weren't at least a little attracted to Link. So this blog entry will give details as to why my gamer heart will always belong to the real defender of Hyrule.

Link is the perfect specimen of a hero and while the series may bare the name of Zelda, the game and the true legend belongs to him. The Legend of Zelda tells a slightly different story each time a game is released but there is a basic premise: a land is in peril and a single hero stands up and defends it. That is why I love the Zelda series and that is why I love Link, he sacrifices his all for the greater good and stands up to ultimate evil when lesser men cower or even serve it. My heart and chest get tight just thinking about it.

Nintendo leaving Link's character and personality so vague is another reason why I think that myself and other fans can fall for him so easily. Leaving Link's character vague is ultimately to immerse the player into the role of Link in the game, but by doing this, I am able to imagine what Link's response and personality could be. My imagination can create the perfect, handsome Hylian hero that will always fight evil and protect the innocent. My chest is getting tight again, haha.

The final reason I believe I have such strong feelings for Link is because I see a lot of myself in him. I know that sounds weird, but let me explain. My entire life I have had a strong sense of right and wrong and have always tried to stick to my beliefs. I've always been the person to defend the weak, hell I even started a fight with a guy twice my size for hurting my little brother. And I am always trying to help and save people, even to my own detriment and at the sacrifice of my own feelings. Now I am not saying that I have taken on the King of Evil and his legions of minions, but in my heart, I'd like to think that if I was in the same situation that I would take up the Master Sword and defend the people of Hyrule. For those reasons, I feel like I can relate to Link to certain extent and almost have a connection to him.

Well that is enough out of this fan girl now that I am thoroughly embaressed, please leave comments about who your Zelda or even any video game crush is and why down below.
